- What do you tell skaters that want to be sponsored?
- I ask them why they want to, to see if their heart is in the right place and try to figure out if they skateboard for the right reasons. To have patience, be dedicated, respect others and skate for fun.

- Everything! They are one of the most solid companies around and they are in for the long haul. They build/produce a great product. They respect their riders and give them opportunities to shine and do something with the gifts and talents that God gave to them.
Career Highlights
- 1980
- First professional signature skateboard introduced in 1980 and Bones Brigade member for over 20 years.
- Invented the “CABALLERIAL”, a Fakie 360 Ollie, which is a household trick that has even crossed over to other board sports plus countless more manuevers.
- 1981
- Named “Skater of the Year” after winning many professional vert and bowl riding contests during those years.
- 1987
- Set world record for highest air on a vert ramp - 11ft.
- Won both street and vert titles at the World Championships in Munster, Germany.
- 1988
- Set world record for longest board slide on a ramp - 26 ft.
- 1989
- First professional skateboarder to release a signature shoe.
- 1990
- Placed 1st at the first Mini-Ramp Pro Challenge in Honolulu, Hawaii.
- 1991
- Won the Vision Vert ramp finals in Southern California.
- 1995
- Placed 5th in street at the first ever ESPN X-Games in Rhode Island.
- 1996
- Skated at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics in Atlanta, GA.
- 1998
- Won the ESPN X-Trials street competition in St. Petersburg, Florida.
- Placed 3rd at the Vans/ Hard Rock Cafe World Championships in Huntington Beach, CA.
- 1999
- Placed 6th in street at the NBC Gravity Games in Rhode Island.
- Set the world record on street for the longest board slide on a 44-step handrail.
- Won the masters bowl event at the Vans/G-Shock Triple Crown Finals in Huntington Beach, CA.
- Named “Skater of the Century” in Thrasher Skateboarding Magazine.
- 2000
- Appeared in Tony Hawks Pro skater 2 & 3 video games for Playstation.
- Xtoys produced the first ever Steve Caballero action figure.
- 2001
- 1st place at the Mervins Beach Bash Masters Soul bowl event in Hermosa Beach, Ca.
- 1st place at the Philips Fusion Masters Soul bowl event in Miami, Florida.
- 2nd place in the Legends vert contest in Dortmund, Germany.
- 2nd place in the Planet X Summer games Street event in Sydney, Australia.
- 2002
- 2nd place Soul bowl Snickers event in Donnington, England
- 2004
- Received the Transworld skateboarding magazine “Legends” award.
