Ligament Technology

Good skaters are hard on boards. They don’t miss little tricks, they miss big ones, and they break decks. Sometimes they break themselves too. We developed LIGAMENT™ technology for our team after watching one of Jordan Hoffart’s especially nasty video slams at the bottom of a big rail gap.

LIGAMENT™ technology consists of inlaying three long strips of high strength polymeric strap into the middle of each deck. These reinforcing straps are strong and flexible, like the ligaments that connect your muscles to your bones. Even when you break the board, the ligament straps will hold your deck together allowing you to ride out of it, instead of doing the groin-tearing splits. LIGAMENT™ decks weigh the same as a 7-ply maple deck, but have more pop, stay stiff longer than ordinary boards, and prevent the deck from ever breaking into two pieces because of the the three ligaments in each one.

Powell LIGAMENT™ decks are manufactured by Skate One, in Santa Barbara, California. They combine our thirty-three years of skateboard manufacturing experience, the world's finest materials, and Skate One’s new LIGAMENT™ technologyto give you more pop, longer board life, and extra confidence when you go big.

The Powell team gave LIGAMENT™ boards two thumbs up after months of testing. So much that we will be making all our Powell Skateboards with LIGAMENTS by the summer of 2009 because they are superior to a standard 7-ply, and we know any skater who has ever broken a board will appreciate LIGAMENT™ technology when it saves his groin.

Look for LIGAMENT™ on the rail of a Powell deck for greater pop, more confidence and increased board life.

More pop, longer lasting, wood doesn't split, barely chips.. These boards are so good!

Aldrin Garcia

I feel the pop lasts longer. I like them.

Josh Hawkins

The new LIGAMENT™ boards are a huge improvement to the already outstanding performance of the existing Powell deck. The Ligaments hold the board tighter and noticeably increase strength and pop of the boards, also they increase the longevity as they hold the rebound and shape longer. If a break was to occur the Ligaments prevent the board from breaking completely apart so the rider can still roll away from the trick. Amazing yet simple technology!

Jordan Hoffart

I like cookies and the new boards... seriously.

—Dallas Rockvam

I love the new LIGAMENT™ boards, they hold their pop more than a regular board. They are stronger and stiffer than any board I have skated before. If I am jumping down something big I never have the fear that I’ll do the splits and blow out my knee. Go get the new LIGAMENT™ boards. They're dope! :)

Derek Elmendorf

I like the fact that my riders have had more confidence when riding the boards. They also have been telling me that the pop is better and they last longer.
